Course structure

Induction – The course starts with a two week induction. This allows trainees to meet their peers, begin to engage with some key issues in teaching and prepare for the time to be spent in school.

School Placements – the course is structured to provide trainees with two 18 week placements. During each placements trainees will send time on cross phase experience (spending time in classrooms across all age phases) and assessed teaching.

All trainees are assigned a SBT (School Based Trainer) and a PT (Professional Tutor). Trainees have weekly one-to-one tutorials with the SBT and regular meetings/taught sessions with their Professional Trainer to review progress against the Teachers’ Standards;

A central programme of BEI (Broader Educational Studies) sessions on Friday mornings at St George’s Community Hub across the year.

Subject Knowledge and Pedagogy taught sessions – These sessions cover the primary National Curriculum and take place on Thursday evenings and Friday afternoons in our partnership schools.
