Subject Knowledge Enhancement

During the interview process, we may ask you to take a Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) course in order to secure your place on one of our courses.

It is important that you are secure in your knowledge of the subject you will teach, and a SKE course is a great way to increase your confidence before the start of the course. They are often fully funded by the Government and bursaries are available to support you financially.

At Birmingham City University, Maths enhancement courses (24 and 16 week – starting 8th Feb and 30th March) are available. Participants receive £200 a week and there are no tuition fees.

16 week enhancement courses are also available in Physics, Chemistry, D&T and Computing – 3 days a week – including subject training, 1 day per week independent study and 1 day in a school.
